President’s Message for January

I wish everyone a belated happy new year and hope you have had a fruitful 2022. We are pleased to announce that BSG will continue its solar installation, education, and awareness programs in 2023 through a Victorian State government grant from DEECA (formerly DELWP). The grant matches BSG’s financial contribution. It will enable us to complete two 99KW solar PV projects on the selected not-for-profit enterprises and 2530 low-income houses through crowdfunding. We are working with Bendigo Community Health to identify these homes.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to a solar system for a low-income house, please look at the BSG link here.

BSG committee wants to ensure that it keeps abreast of the issues and challenges faced by the Bendigo/Loddon Mallee community. In this quest, a brief survey will be sent to our members to gauge their current and long-term sustainability interests and how we can better manage their expectations.

We are also going full steam on our preparations for the Sustainability Festival held every year in March. This year the festival falls on Saturday, 26th March and brings several renowned sustainability speakers, including Sophie Thompson of Gardening Australia. We are looking forward to seeing a large number enjoying the festival.
